Free Tortillas!

On Tuesday evening I made tacos for dinner. The tortillas stuck together in the package. I tried to carefully peel them apart, but several of them ripped and couldn't be used. Thinking of a blog post I read several weeks ago, I decided to email the company, Mission, and see if there was anything they could do.

Using Google, it took me about 7 seconds to find their website and reach the form needed to contact them. It was easy; I just filled in some basic information, and then typed my message. I explained that I'm usually happy with Mission brand tortillas, but that the sticking was frustrating. I was polite and concise.

That was Tuesday. Today, I checked the mail to find that Mission had sent me two coupons for free tortillas, and a brief letter apologizing for the sticking. I also sent an email to Noxzema, explaining that I recently purchased a 4-pack of disposable razors, two of which were broken and unusable; I haven't heard back from them yet.

Whether you're writing with praise or criticism, companies love to hear from you. Just don't complain, don't take advantage, and always be honest. If you've ever written a company and received a positive response back, I'd love to hear about it!

  1. That's really neat! I love hearing about stuff like this. I've had numerous good experiences with companies. I once had a CoverGirl lipstick that broke off at the bottom of the stick. The product was a little more on the expensive side. I emailed the company and they sent me a coupon for a free product.

Just a few days ago we bought a package of cloth diapers. The thread was coming unraveled in one of the diapers. We emailed the company and they sent us an entirely NEW package of diapers (and we still got to keep all the others except that one!).

It's worth it to write to companies, especially being polite and letting them know if there is a problem or sending your comments on their products.
